Zabava Balkan Dancing

Dances Taught

Zabava means "fun" in Bulgarian. Join us for weekly Balkan folk dancing. Fun, friendly atmosphere! All levels welcome!

We meet Fridays, 7:30-9:30pm in close-in NE Portland, Oregon, just south of Irving Park. Admission is $1.

Note: No street shoes! Please bring clean soft-soled shoes to protect the wooden floor.

Allergy notes: Fragrance-free venue! Please do not wear scented products (perfume, lotion, hair products, essential oils, etc.).
Interested cat on premises.

We focus mainly on Balkan line dances, although the occasional Israeli or Scandinavian dance creeps in, depending on dancer requests. We are learning a lot of Bulgarian old favorites, as well as dances taught in recent workshops near Portland, and anything else requested by the dancers.

Enjoy the group's support while taking the next step as a folk dancer, whether that's joining in the line for a new dance, leading the line for the first time, or teaching a dance for the first time. Bring your requests for dances you'd like to do, learn, lead, or teach.

Newcomers are warmly welcomed. Come dance with us!
